  • how experienced cosplayers can help new cosplayers
  • anything else you think is important

Notes:

Japanese manga (comics) are becoming more popular worldwide, and thanks to easy access to multimedia and the internet, the youth in Hong Kong have become more involved in costume play

Cosplay – the act of dressing up in costumes and wigs(假髮)and behaving like their favorite characters in the popular manga.

The number of local youths participating in cosplay has increased sharply. However, some of the experienced cosplayers think that the standard of new cosplayers (who have less experience) is unacceptable and feel that they are ruining the image of Hong Kong cosplayers in general.

The newcomers ‘cosplay appearance does not accurately resemble(類似的)the manga character, and they may not fully understand the character that they are impersonating.

According to one blogger, this creates conflict among new and experienced cosplayers, threatening the harmonious(和諧的)environment of cosplay in Hong Kong.

Tips for writing a diary

Talk about:

  • why it is useful to keep a diary
  • how to make a diary interesting and memorable
  • which tips you would find most useful for writing a diary

Notes:

Pick a cover design that you think is nice or suits your style.

Try starting the entry with something catchy or exciting and then end with writing your feelings about the day or drawing to show how you are feeling

A format you can use is to write your entry on one side of the page and on the other side put a picture or include a souvenir like an entrance ticket to a show.

Make it good to read. When you look back you want to enjoy reading it.

Write all of your deep thoughts. If you keep things inside of you, there’s no point in keeping a diary.

Keep it neat!

Try not to write in it more than once a day.

Don’t worry if you can’t write every day.

The race is on!

Talk about:

  • the popularity of swimming in Hong Kong in general
  • any potential dangers of swimming across the harbor
  • the benefits of the race for participants and Hong Kong
  • anything else you think is important

Notes:

After a break of 30 years, the cross-harbor race is being organized once again. Participants have to swim from Sam Ka Tsuen Public Pier in Lei Yue Mun to Quarry Bay Park, a distance of 1.8km.

The number of participants is limited to 1,000, and to qualify as a participant, interested applicants need to show that they can swim 1,500 meters in 45 minutes.

One concern is whether the quality of water is suitable for swimmers, and another is whether the currents may be too strong. However, it seems that the swifter currents at Lei Yue Mun firstly help to keep the water cleaner than other parts of the harbor, and secondly help the swimmer to go with the flow to make the race easier.

The event will not be harmful to swimmers, according to the organizers, the Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association, and they hope to make the cross-harbor race an annual event.
